Pat McGinnis

Pat McGinnis was Red Rose Cotillion's bass player from the fall of 1981 until a few weeks before the band's demise on May 21st 1982. Pat brought a fine new dimension to the band. He was an accomplished bassist with a great tone and an interesting playing style. He was also a fine singer and songwriter. While Pat was a fine rock musician, he had a distinct country flavor which made it possible for us to perform a whole range of songs that we probably wouldn't have tried to do without him. Unlike the rest of us, Pat's country style was authentic. People have always said that one of the most interesting things about RRC was the way the different singer/songwriters were able to shine with their own peculiar style when they each performed their own songs and then were able to blend with the others when performing someone else's songs. Pat was no exception to that rule. I enjoyed working with Pat McGinnis very much. We sang a lot of 2-part harmony and I'm pleased to say that I was able to contribute some cool guitar harmonies and riffs during the interludes between the verses of his song, "These Blues." Pat still lives in Altoona. He has a wife and 2 daughters. Pat performs in State College at the Phyrst every Friday Happy Hours in a band with Mark Ross, formerly the guitarist for Queen Bee and the Green Hornet Band. Thanks for all the great memories, Pat! I'm lookin' forward to jammin with you again in 2006!!
